About Us

Who Are We?

A congregation of Christians, committed to the Lord Jesus Christ, who gather, worship, learn, and work together on the Eastern Shore. We come from many communities within the Cole Harbour, Dartmouth, Eastern Shore area.

We are people of all ages, from all kinds of families, from many different denominational backgrounds and worship styles. What we all have in common is our love for one another and our calling to serve Jesus Christ in the World.

Our Staff

Rev. Eric Malloy

Pastor

Eric and Rebecca have been married since 1976 and have three married children and seven grandchildren. Eric serves as Pastor of Good Shepherd Church since 2022; also as National Director Emeritus, Bridges for Peace Canada (Winnipeg, MB; 2011 -2019); and as Ministry Associate with Freedom in Christ Canada. He holds a B.A. in Biblical Studies and a M.A. in Judeo-Christian Studies.

Eric has a passion for the strengthening of Good Shepherd Church family and the broader body of Christ in the region for the proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and making fruitful disciples; giving greater evidence of John 17 love and unity within and between local churches in these last days before Jesus returns; and standing with Israel and our persecuted brothers and sisters.

Theresa Gilbert

Office Administrator

Theresa joined Good Shepherd Church as Office Administrator in April 2023 after retiring from Dalhousie University’s School of Nursing. A devoted member since 2012, she also serves as an Elder and sings on one of the worship teams. Theresa’s deep love for the Lord and her church family is evident in her dedication and service. She has shared 42 years of marriage with her husband, Howard, and now lovingly cares for him after his hip injury—a role that has been both challenging and deeply meaningful. She also cherishes her two daughters and four grandchildren.

Statement of Faith

As members of Good Shepherd Church we accept and proclaim the historic truths of the Christian faith including the following:

  • We believe the Holy Scriptures to be the divinely inbreathed, infallible, inerrant and the authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe that mankind was created innocent and pure, and Adam fell through the sin of disobedience. Therefore, all men are corrupted in body, soul and spirit; and all people need redemption.
  • We believe in the virgin birth of the Lord Jesus Christ, His unqualified deity, His sinless humanity and perfect life, the eternal all-sufficiency of His atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the Father’s right hand and His personal coming again at His second advent.
  • We believe that salvation is by grace, a free gift from God apart from works; salvation requires repentence, a turning from one’s own way; salvation is through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; all who receive Jesus Christ are regenerated by the Holy Spirit and become the children of God and true salvation will be manifested in a changed life.
  • We believe in holy living possible only through the continued infilling of the Holy Spirit (Eph. 5:18), the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the Lord’s natural and supernatural healing of the human body.
  • We believe in Christ’s Lordship of the church, the observance of the ordinances of Christian baptism and the Lord’s Supper.
  • We believe in the personal, visible return of Jesus Christ to earth: in the bodily resurrection of the just to eternal abode in the glory of God’s presence and in the resurrection of the unjust to judgment and everlasting punishment in the lake of fire.

Our beliefs are fully supportive of and in line with the values and beliefs of the Congregational Christian Churches in Canada, of which we are a full and active member in good standing. Core values and beliefs of the 4Cs can be found here.

Philosophy of Ministry

We believe that God is redemptive and creative. He is in the business of finding broken people and making them whole. Here in Good Shepherd Church we desire to work in cooperation with God in His process of restoration. The people of our fellowship comprise a mosaic of life in general. We welcome all who desire to unite with us around the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ.
